Subject Description

    This module enables participants to develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the community in which they live and work, with particular focus on the rurality of their community. Participants will explore and engage with their community through community-based activities.

Learning Outcomes

  • evaluate the impact of the cultural competency of health professionals on their role in a rural and remote community context through the development of a community profile using demographic/service information integrated with knowledge from key community contacts
  • identify and prioritise appropriate mechanisms that a health professional, and a health service could implement to enhance social and professional community engagement and cultural competency
