Subject Description

    Introduction to the law relating to sale of goods, consumer protection, subcontractors charges and the law of agency.

Learning Outcomes

  • students will develop problem-solving skills in relation to these matters
  • students will gain a thorough understanding of the laws relating to sale of goods, consumer protection, subcontractors charges, and agency in Australia
  • students will gain a thorough understanding of the rights of sellers/buyers/consumers in the context of goods and services contracts, the duties of employers and head contractors and the rights of subcontractors, and the duties and liabilities of principals and agents under common law and statute

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination (centrally administered) - (70%)
  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (30%)
