Subject Description

    This subject extends core knowledge of health, sport, physical activity and wellbeing to gain a comprehensive understanding of content and pedagogical knowledge in health and physical education. Specific to teaching secondary physical education and health advanced pedagogies, models and theories will be a specific focus. The aim of this subject is to equip students with knowledge, skills and confidence to critique and integrate instructional and theoretical models in authentic physical, health and wellbeing learning experiences.

Learning Outcomes

  • apply advanced health, sport and physical activity and student wellbeing knowledge and concepts (including ethics and inclusivity) to identify underpinning principles in health and physical education in secondary schools
  • use and critique advanced pedagogies, models and theories to teach health, sport and physical education
  • critically reflect on and develop appropriate strategies to support student learning in physical education and health

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Case study analysis - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Learning plan - (60%) - Individual
