Subject Description

    Successful conservation and management of environmental resources must include consideration of peoples' values, beliefs, attitudes and actions. This subject will examine how these human dimensions affect conservation and management of natural resources, how they can be studied, and how to achieve positive outcomes by incorporating them into conservation and management planning and implementation processes.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate an understanding of the relevance and importance of including a consideration of the human dimensions in natural resource conservation and management
  • demonstrate knowledge of relevant human dimensions concepts and methods
  • apply human dimensions theory and methods to analysing real-world environmental issues
  • communicate the relevance and importance of a human dimensions approach and the relevant human dimensions concepts to others within an environmental management context

  • Written > Reflection/reflective task 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Oral > Interview - (30%) - Individual
