Subject Description

    This subject provides an opportunity to explore and develop global perspectives impacting on educational provision in diverse and complex international educational contexts, with a focus on the Tropics and Asian-Pacific regions. Core concepts of global connectivity and interdependence; tensions between global and local policy agendas; cultural diversity; social justice and human rights; sustainability and global harmony will be interrogated. Developing educational policy, structures and processes that shape the global education landscape will be critically analysed. Participants will have an opportunity to select a complex global education problem or scenario, based on a professional practice or a policy dilemma and apply knowledge of research, theory and conceptual frameworks to propose transformative action. Participants will develop an understanding of the personal and professional responsibilities of global citizens and consider approaches to improve global educational outcomes through their specific educational and organisational roles.

Subject Assessment

Assumed Knowledge:  Students will have high level academic literacy, including the ability to research, analyse and synthesise scholarly readings. Students will be able to formulate and communicate complex ideas in academic writing genres.
