Subject Description

    This subject focuses on understanding the foundations of curriculum and pedagogy and the influences shaping curriculum within schools and school systems. Teachers, administrators and curriculum coordinators will examine the influences on curriculum and pedagogy and how to lead after change in these areas. The subject is particularly valuable for those leading for change in curriculum design, implementation and enactment and teaching practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • explore and develop conceptualisations of curriculum and identify implications for schools and school systems
  • describe a curriculum issue and its contextual influences
  • critically analyse issues, practices and literature on curriculum construction, implementation and review
  • frame and produce a curriculum project relevant to a school or school system

Subject Assessment

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Individual
  • Written > Critical appraisal/review - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Problem task - (40%) - Individual
