Subject Description

    Processes or ore formation, including the geochemistry of ore-forming fluids, wall-rock interactions and fluid migration; the styles, attributes and geological context of mineralised rock-systems.

Learning Outcomes

  • to give an understanding of the nature and origin of metalliferous ore deposits
  • to provide an introduction to methods in metallogenic studies including ore microscopy, fluid inclusion studies and stable isotope geochemistry
  • to place these in the context of modern mining and exploration techniques
