Subject Description

    This is a capstone subject that provides students completing the financial advising major with the opportunity to complete a project in the financial advising industry. Students will apply knowledge from their university study and conduct research to address a particular problem or issue in the Financial Advising Industry / sector. The project will be of a student's own design but developed in consultation with workplace supervisors and should assist in developing/improving workplace skills and contribute to industry improvement. It must be authentic and must involve work not already done in an existing paid role.

Learning Outcomes

  • design a proposal in accordance with the financial advising process that aligns with the Financial Advisor Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) standards in a relevant industry project
  • plan and communicate with clients effectively to develop a professional advisor relationship focused on a beneficial client outcome
  • construct and present clients with a compliant comprehensive Statement of Advice
  • source feedback on performance and reflect on improvement to future professional practice
  • evaluate and implement client relationship building strategies through an ongoing review of the financial planning and advising process

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Individual
  • Written > Action plan - (60%) - Individual
  • Written > Journal - (20%) - Individual
