Subject Description
- This subject will provide the foundation theoretical and professional skills necessary for competent practice in the assessment and treatment/management of speech impairment in children and adolescents. This subject will also explore aetiological factors, models, and processes contributing to speech difference and impairment. Implications across linguistic and cultural contexts, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations, will be considered. Assessment and intervention methods will be explored with respect to current theories and evidence-based practice principles. The effects of speech impairments on a child's activity and participation will be explored.

- analyse and interpret child speech assessment data and determine appropriate intervention goals
- formulate and justify intervention plans and approaches based on sound theoretical and evidence- based principles
- explain the impact of speech difference and impairment on a child's activity and participation
Subject Assessment

Special Assessment Requirements
Students must achieve at least 50% in each individual assessment item and must achieve at least 50% overall in order to pass the subject. Students are required to attend and actively participate in at least 80% of all scheduled classes.
