Subject Description

Methods of Intervention 2 provides further learning of evidence based therapies. An overview of evidence based intervention such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Schema Therapy will be provided with a rationale for matching therapy to each client in a person-centred approach. This subject will also focus on complex presentations and case formulation incorporating ethical issues and contexts of client care to enhance outcomes. Case formulation will be integrated throughout the workshops.

Learning Outcomes

• apply a range of empirically validated intervention for psychological disorders, complex presentations and integrated case formulation
• demonstrate the ability to research relevant literature to substantiate the use of particular evidence based therapies
• demonstrate skills of evidence based therapeutic applications
• apply knowledge and skills in cultural awareness and issues of living in rural and remote regions of the tropics to practical solutions enhancing client outcomes in interprofessional practice contexts
• critically appraise case information and apply clinical reasoning to case conceptualisations and defensible treatment plans
