Subject Description

    In this subject students will explore the human experience of life and the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional changes which occur across the life span. Students will examine key topical areas including the interplay of genes and environment; intellectual and cognitive growth and decline; sensory perception; language and lifelong learning; ageing, perspectives on death and dying. Students will investigate how lifelong changes are shaped by the context of the world in which we live.

Learning Outcomes

  • identify key theoretical approaches to physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development across the lifespan
  • critically appraise and apply theoretical models of development across the lifespan in response to a problem

Subject Assessment

  • Invigilated > Quizzes or tests - (40%)
  • Non-Invigilated > Assignments - (60%)
