OT2013 - Psycho-emotional Determinants of Occupation

Subject Description

The purpose of this subject is for students to develop professional skills and competencies in assessment, measurement, intervention planning and implementation of enabling strategies to address personal psycho-emotional factors which impact on engagement in occupation.

Learning Outcomes

• critically analyse the impact of psychiatric diagnoses and associated symptoms upon occupational performance
• explore and reflect upon the wide variety of psycho-emotional factors that compromise and/or promote occupational engagement and wellbeing
• gather and analyse psycho-emotional information and synthesise this within a relevant model in order to formulate recommendations to enhance wellbeing
• evaluate relevant occupational therapy assessment and intervention approaches and critically examine their applicability and usefulness in specific practice contexts

Subject Assessment

• Invigilated > Presentations - (35%)
• Individual written assignment - (15%)
• Non-Invigilated > Assignments - (50%)

Special Assessment Requirements

All assessment materials must be submitted to pass the subject. Students must achieve a minimum of 50% overall to pass the subject (including after the application of any penalties such as late penalties). 80% attendance and participation at workshops is required to pass the subject.
