Subject Description

    In this subject students will commence consolidation of knowledge and skills acquired in previous subjects and apply these to the planning and delivery of comprehensive person centered patient care. Students will develop skills in nursing leadership, advocacy and conflict resolution to enhance positive patient and professional relationships.

Learning Outcomes

  • use and interpret assessment data to plan and evaluate progress towards patient centered goals
  • respond appropriately to changes to patients' mental and physical health status
  • utilise leadership, advocacy and conflict resolution skills to build and maintain relationships in the multidisciplinary team
  • apply the Registered Nurse standards for practice in the provision of extended person centered evidenced based nursing care in contexts of practice unique to Australia

  • Invigilated > Presentations - (20%)
  • Non-Invigilated > Assignments
  • Integrated case study - (40%)
  • Online unfolding scenario - (30%)
  • Clinical calculations - (10%)

Special Assessment Requirements

Examinations may be scheduled outside regular university examination period - refer to NM Year Planner. Students must complete and submit all items of assessment; 100% attendance at Clinical Lab sessions; achieve a satisfactory for the Professional Portfolio; achieve a satisfactory grade while on Professional Experience Placement; achieve a cumulative score of 50%; Clinical Calculations is a must pass assessment item.
