Subject Description
- This subject introduces the student to the key legal and ethical obligations of Nurses and Midwives.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate knowledge of the main features of the ethical traditions influencing nursing and midwifery
- critically evaluate clinical practice with reference to ethical principles
- identify the main provisions of codes of ethics that govern the practice of nursing and midwifery in Australia
- outline the Australian legal system and the role of each part
- demonstrate knowledge of the law as it applies to nursing and midwifery in Australia in general, and Queensland in particular
Subject Assessment
- Invigilated > End of semester exam - (50%)
- Non-Invigilated > Assignments - (50%)
