MO1028 - Child Health Conditions

Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to an experienced paediatric therapist who can act as a mentor and supervise assessment tasks. Supervision can take place in person or via video link.

This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions; Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Speech Pathology.

Subject Description

    This module explores child development within the domains of physical, cognitive, psychosocial and communicative development. Participants will be guided to review current child services in their local area, identify child assessments, and develop an evidence-based intervention plan for a child client, utilizing effective communication within an interprofessional team.

Learning Outcomes

  • combine advanced knowledge of childhood conditions and assessment and clinical reasoning skills, to formulate and communicate multi-disciplinary, family-centred intervention plans designed to optimise care in the rural and/or remote setting in accordance with best practice guidelines and local service strategic intent
