Subject Description
- This subject provides students with hands-on modelling skills for a wide variety of problems involving rates of change. While we focus on growth and decay processes, populations and heating and cooling processes, the mathematical techniques presented can be applied to many other areas.
Learning Outcomes
- construct a model, including the conversion of a seemingly complex problem into a much simpler one
- employ analytical, graphical, and computational tools, to analyse the behaviour of models under changing conditions
- validate models, recognising strengths and limitations
- employ a variety of analytical and computational techniques to solve ordinary and partial differential equations
Subject Assessment
- Invigilated > End of semester exam - (60%)
- Non-Invigilated > Assignments - (40%)
