Subject Description

    This subject is designed primarily for students already employed in a workplace to develop an independent project for the workplace / industry. Students will be required to prepare a project proposal (which would require subject coordinator/lecturer approval) and to complete a project relevant to their degree and workplace. The proposal would be required to demonstrate how the project assists in developing/improving workplace skills; address an industry issue and contribute to industry. In addition to meeting the specific subject prerequisites, students wishing to undertake the Independent Project must apply via the College of Business, Law and Governance WIL website: https://www.jcu.edu.au/college-of-business-law-and-governance/Work-Integrated-Learning no later than three (3) weeks prior to commencement of study period. Following submission of application, an approval process takes place. Students are advised of the outcome by email. This process only applies to students enrolled on the Townsville or Cairns campuses.

Learning Outcomes

Subject Assessment

  • Invigilated > Presentations - (20%)
  • Poster Seminar and Final Project - (50%)
  • Project Proposal - (30%)
