Subject Description
- This subject aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as hands-on experience using a GIS to address a real-world environmental issue.
Learning Outcomes
- Define key concepts in geography, mapping and remote sensing including scale, co-ordinate systems and spectral signatures
- Identify key issues and limitations in geography, mapping and remote sensing
- Analyse spatial data and create effective maps using industry standard GIS software
- Work in teams to collect spatial data answering a real-world question and communicate the findings effectively
Subject Assessment
- Invigilated > End of semester exam - (40%)
- on-course work (60%) - (60%)
