Subject Description

    The subject involves both practical and theoretical explorations of the art of creative writing. It covers a wide range of the essential techniques required to create successful poetry, prose and dialogue. An emphasis will be placed upon students developing a broad skills base, rather than specialisation in any one genre. Aspects of presentation, audience reception, editing and cultural contexts will be covered.

Learning Outcomes

  • students completing this subject should develop skills in writing and editing creative work in a range of genres
  • students should be able to present creative work for publication and performance at a professional standard

Subject Assessment

  • Invigilated > Tutorial attendance and participation - (20%)
  • Invigilated > Multidraft Essays - (80%)
