Subject Description

This subject prepares preservice teachers for a range of professional roles within the classroom, school, with parent/caregivers and the wider community for children from birth to 8 years. Preservice teachers will investigate a range of curriculum theories and develop models of curriculum. The subject will draw extensively upon school-based activities to explore the relationship between theory, policy and practice. Preservice teachers will critically examine school assessment and reporting practices and relate these to the broader role of schools in communities. Specifically for ECE pre-service teachers, this subject provides a focus on the development of early childhood curriculum, the importance of critically reflective practice, and the preparation of a professional portfolio.
