Subject Description

    This subject is designed to give students working knowledge of a broad array of topics in econometric theory and prepare them for empirical applications. The subject will discuss the type of model and methodology that needs to be chosen under what type of conditions and how to test the type of condition that prevails. Topics include, (quasi) maximum likelihood estimation, generalized least square estimation, instrumental variable analysis and generalized methods of moments modelling.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate integrated knowledge of econometric techniques used in advanced-level econometric analysis
  • conduct econometric analysis to comprehensively test research hypotheses
  • critically evaluate the results of econometric analysis to draw integrated and advanced-level policy conclusions

Subject Assessment

  • Invigilated > End of semester exam - (50%)
  • Assignment 1 - (25%)
  • Assignment 2 - (25%)
