BX3035 - Risk Management and Insurance

Subject Description

This subject provides students with a comprehensive and critical overview of issues relating to risk management and insurance, how to plan, invest and protect the client's wealth as well as implement and review recommendations made to clients. The structured subject is the integration of key elements in order to help secure our financial future with a professional practice, which will cover fundamental concepts of risk and wealth planning; assessing the risks; managing the risks through insurance; and taxation planning and investing. This subject is designed to meet the Financial Advising Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) requirements for knowledge, skills and integrity at an appropriate financial advising education relative to the types of activities graduates undertake.

Learning Outcomes

• design and evaluate relevant risk assessment strategies to insurance and investment opportunities for the financial advising context
• identify and communicate effective strategies for the management of risk in a variety of financial contexts
• describe current taxation issues and legal requirements governing the provision of financial advice that impact upon investors and professional advisers
• apply professional skills and knowledge in the management and communication of recommendations in a client-advisor relationship
