Subject Description
- A broad introduction to contemporary biology, from the way cells, organs and individual organisms function, through to molecular biology, genetics, micro- and macroevolution and the processes underlying the diversity of life and ecosystems.
Learning Outcomes
- to learn about the basic principles of cellular activities
- to understand the basics of the mechanism of inheritance
- to gain an appreciation of the relationship between structure and function of cells and cellular organelles in living organisms
- to understand the basics of ecology and micro- and macroevolutionary biology
Subject Assessment
- Invigilated > Quizzes or tests - (20%)
- Mid-semester test - (10%)
- Formal report - (15%)
- Invigilated > End of semester exam - (55%)
