Subject Description

    This subject begins by outlining the principles involved in the study of the human body at the cellular, tissue and system level. This will include an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of a range of body systems. Each body system will be investigated at the microscopic, macroscopic and physiological level using a combination of human cadaveric material (prosections), histological sections and physiology laboratory examinations. The importance of how the body systems interact and coordinate to maintain homeostasis will be explored

  • describe and identify the structure of cells, tissues and organ systems
  • explain the foundations of cellular function

Subject Assessment

  • Invigilated > End of semester exam - (40%)
  • Invigilated > Quizzes or tests - (30%)
  • Practical Exam - (30%)
