This subject will study the method of groupwork and the role of group workers in social work practice. Students will learn about the theory, dynamics and practice of group work through group interaction and facilitation in skills workshops.
Learning Outcomes
- understand the phases of group development across a variety of settings;
- understand the theories and parameters of group structure and their relevance to both group tasks and group processes;
- demonstrate the ability to participate in and facilitate supportive groups;
- understand the rationale for group work in social work practice and the processes of developing groups.
