An introduction to experimental and survey design and analysis. Topics include the principles of sampling design; hypothesis generation for experiments; collection of data; manipulations and interpretation of data; statistical methods used in science; and the use of data in scientific reports.
Learning Outcomes
- to develop the necessary computer skills for data management, analysis and graphical presentation;
- to develop skills in selecting and applying appropriate analytical methods to scientific data;
- to develop skills in the design, execution and reporting of scientific experiments and survey programs.
Assumed Knowledge: | Students enrolling in this subject should have a good understanding of level 1 science, including at least two level 1 subjects. |
