This subject reviews environmental, biological, psychological and social factors that impact health and rehabilitation, in the context of chronic health disorders. Topics will include the role of psychologists in prevention and rehabilitation for chronic diseases including pain, diabetes and chronic heart disease.
Learning Outcomes
- integrate and apply advanced understanding of essential principles, theories, approaches and influences associated with the development of and rehabilitation of chronic health disorders;
- select and use appropriate methods to evaluate chronic health disorders;
- convey propositions, strategies, recommendations, conclusions and professional decisions through advanced written and oral communication skills;
- select and use appropriate psychological methods including motivational interviewing to address the process of adaptation to physical problems associated with chronic health disorders.
