Psychology as a discipline and a profession is firmly founded upon the model of the scientist/practitioner. This subject will further define the underpinning ethical considerations in light of an examination of the evidence base for psychological practice. The ethics component of this subject will address ethical issues relevant to professional practice as a psychologist, including the role of ethical behaviour, codes of ethics and competencies specified by the Australian Psychological Society. The professional and evidence based practice component of this subject will prepare students for transition into the work environment, through the development of core capabilities associated with practice in the profession.

Learning Outcomes

Prerequisites:Must complete 72 credit points of level 1, 2, and 3 subjects from an undergraduate Psychology course, and be accepted into the 4th year psychology stream before enrolling in any level 4 PY subjects.
