Quantitative and Qualitative research methods play an increasingly important role in health service research, health policy and the development of health services. This subject introduces students to a variety of research methods and will aid them in the development and completion of the research components of the MPharmPH program. Topics covered will include: the theoretical and conceptual foundations of research, the design of project proposals, ethical aspects of research and the generation and analysis of data from both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate an understanding and an ability to develop and employ a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- demonstrate an ability critically analyse quantitative and qualitative research data;
- demonstrate an ability to critically analyse and review research reports;
- demonstrate an ability to critically analyse, review, evaluate and design a research proposal.
