This subject aims to provide students with the requisite knowledge and skills to complete system-specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. The subject will expand the student's knowledge of the cognitive processes and psychomotor skills needed for comprehensive assessment of uncomplicated or healthy patients/clients across the lifespan. Students will develop effective clinical interviewing skills,history taking and advanced physical assessment skills in order to deliver holistic person-centered care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
Learning Outcomes
- explain a range of evidence based health conceptual frameworks integral to advanced health assessment in clinical practice;
- describe components of system-specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations;
- perform system specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations that include appropriate cultural, psychosocial, cognitive, genetic and developmental elements;
- demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision making appropriate to their individual scope of practice.
