Students in this subject are introduced to concepts of pathophysiology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Students progress from their understanding of wellness to examine concepts of disease and further develop their skills in health assessment in respect of identified body systems; respiratory, cardiovascular, renal and musculoskeletal. Application of knowledge and skills in this subject maintains a focus on patient centered care and the Registered Nurse standards for practice.
Learning Outcomes
- apply principles of person centered care and diversity in the provision of nursing care in practice settings;
- utilise focused health assessment to identify variations from normal parameters;
- relate principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics to the management of respiratory, cardiovascular, renal and musculoskeletal diseases;
- apply the Registered Nurse standards for practice in the provision of evidenced based nursing care;
- apply knowledge of the pathophysiology of the respiratory, cardiovascular, renal and musculoskeletal systems in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
