This subject focuses on the normal physiological processes associated with pregnancy, labour and birth, establishing breastfeeding and care in the early postnatal period. Students will develop decision-making skills essential to woman-centred collaborative midwifery practice for both women and the newborn.
Learning Outcomes
- outline factors that influence midwifery care focusing on normal physiological processes across the continuum of care;
- describe the role of the midwife in advocating for and promoting physiological care across the pregnancy, birth and postnatal continuum;
- appraise the use of available technology to support the implementation of culturally safe midwifery care including the provision of education and information.
