Students in this subject will be introduced to principles of information design and explore areas such as sense-making and human-centred design solutions. The major creative works will involve visualising complex data, designing usable information for people. Students will explore how complex ideas can be communicated with precision, clarity and efficiency in relation to the needs of people/users. The output of an information design can include information content design, digital or print page design, illustration, design and typography decisions. Information solutions may be created for a variety of media.
Learning Outcomes
- identify the relevant and appropriate combination of characteristics to inform the design of digital media product;
- assess the effectiveness and utility of a range of graphic design material prepared for digital media;
- apply graphic design principles to enhance the integration of image, text and graphic to support comprehension and utility of digital media;
- understand the needs and behavioural responses of a user to written and visual material depicted within digital media.
