This subject introduces students to a range of technical and expressive drawing skills and concepts. The foundation of computer-aided drawing techniques including perspective, rendering, tone, shape, light and contrast will be examined. Drawing conventions will be investigated along with a survey of extant drawings in the contemporary context. Techniques of digitization and computer-aided processes will be tested through the foundation of primary vector-based and pixel-based illustration. The relationship with drawing practices and the expanded field of contemporary media arts practice will be investigated. Through this subject, students will develop the appropriate techniques and theory to understand the principals of computer aided drawing and rendering. Analogue convergence in computer-aided techniques will be used in the design and production of a compact magazine or a compact artists' book.
