This subject introduces students to fundamental elements of visual communication and digital literacy in contemporary media arts. Processes of colour theory, visuality and foundation principles of computer-aided imaging and production are included. Strategies for communicating ideas in a visual form and understanding of media and technology in a social and cultural context will be examined. Concepts that inform the convergence of visual and media arts will be explored and developed in this subject. You will be provided with opportunities to work with a range of digital processes and applications to test your ideas in the production of original creative work.
Learning Outcomes
- Employ colour in an expressive and symbolic manner;
- Describe in written, verbal and visual form, the aims of digital literacy in creative works;
- Apply Principles and Elements of Design in the composition of creative work;
- Describe the major developments in convergent visual and media arts domains;
- Apply OH&S in relation to the process explored in this unit;
- Produce creative works that communicate visual ideas.
