Mid year intake students are strongly encouraged to enrol and complete subject NM1200 Digital Photography offered in SP7 study period (scheduled before SP2 mid-year intake). Lens-Based Practice explores the technical, creative and aesthetic qualities of creating images at the conception and capture stage of producing images. It explores more advanced technical and creative concepts with the focus of producing images for the highest quality output (gallery exhibition quality prints). Students will study various technical conditions regarding the relationship between subject, camera and light. It further explores the creative concepts involving photographic perspective, Gestalt psychology, monochromatic images and creative principles for portraiture, landscape, editorial, fashion and art photography.
Learning Outcomes
- apply appropriate lens-based technology and methods for the production of photomedia artefacts;
- create a folio of original creative works;
- demonstrate an understanding of visual communication within the analysis of photomedia artefacts;
- develop skills in self-directed learning effectively.
