This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions; Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry.

This module builds rural generalist knowledge and skills in service provision for consumers experiencing complex musculoskeletal conditions who are living in rural and remote communities. The module will examine osteoarthritis as the primary example of a complex musculoskeletal condition with high prevalence in rural and remote areas. Participants will enhance their knowledge and skills in assessment, clinical reasoning, consumer management and self-management skills.

Learning Outcomes

Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to a patient or consumer with complex osteoarthritis, including persistent pain, so as to demonstrate achievement of module outcomes in the appropriate clinical context.
