This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions; Dietetics.

This module provides participants with the opportunity to explore their profession-specific role within a multidisciplinary team in the management of diabetes and its sequelae. Participants apply concepts of best practice and quality improvement to their own practice within a rural and remote health context.

Learning Outcomes

Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to a patient or consumer with diabetes, so as to demonstrate achievement of module outcomes in the appropriate clinical context.

    Assessment:assessments 1) analysis of a consumer's health journey from pre-diagnosis and beyond for a consumer with diabetes (must pass) 2) self-management plan for a consumer with diabetes and its sequelae (must pass).
