Thanks to advances in technology it is now possible to collect data very quickly and cheaply. This is great news for business managers and policy makers, because they can now make more informed decisions that are reinforced by real data. But how should these decisions be communicated and how should policy makers and business managers defend their decisions? This subject will up-skill students with core skills to uncover and communicate important information hidden in data using appropriate data visualiation techniques. The subject will consider cutting-edge and techniques for visualising data.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate sound knowledge of the basic theory and concepts that underpin data visualiation techniques and strategies;
- formulate effective data visualisation methods for extracting, evaluating and synthesizing information contained in data;
- deliver an effective communication strategy that relies on data visualation techniques for bridging the gap between data and decisions.
