While the law and sport, at one time, rarely interacted, the growth of the business of sport has seen sports law grow into a distinct and important area of law. Decided cases have also stated that Australian sport is part of a wider entertainment industry. This subject therefore involves examining what areas of law apply to the sport and entertainment industries, and how they apply.
Learning Outcomes
- explain and apply common law and statutory principles to factual scenarios set in the sports and entertainment industry;
- analyse and apply the legal requirements in the context of risk management in the sports and entertainment industry;
- conduct legal research and analyse relevant primary and secondary sources.
