This subject will provide students from all disciplines with the skills of critical thinking required for successful academic study. This subject will assist students to develop the skills to critically analyse a variety of texts, images and arguments for academic purposes. This will be achieved through exploration of definitions for critical thinking; exploring the concepts of logic, inductive and deductive reasoning and an examination of texts, media and academic sources for legitimacy, credibility, reliability, bias, and appropriateness in context. This subject therefore develops students' higher order thinking strategies as documented in Bloom's taxonomy.
