Learning in a Digital Environment is a core subject in the JCU Foundations program. The subject is structured into three units covering a range of different topics: Unit 1: Resources for subject success · JCU Essentials · Using ICTs to support your learning · Library resources & search strategies · Source evaluation & academic integrity Unit 2: Core software · Word processing & academic formatting · Data literacy & working with Excel · PowerPoint & presentation software · Copyright & digital media Unit 3: Digital identity & well-being · Security & privacy · Communication & collaboration software · Managing your online identity The subject will be delivered via a blended learning mode, which means that we will be using both online and face-to-face teaching materials. This subject will be delivered via workshops, online videos, and activities. You will need to allocate 10 hours of time to this subject per week. These 10 hours will include the time spent completing preparation materials before class, the time spent completing homework tasks and assessments, and the 8 hours of computer workshops. To succeed in this subject you will need to attend all scheduled classes, complete all online activities, and submit all assessment tasks.
