FS0202 - Human Perspective on World Geography

Credit points: 03
Year: 2019
Student Contribution Band: Band 3
Administered by:

Ever wondered how things are always evolving around us? Or how man seeks to be one in harmony with Mother Nature? This subject, Human Perspective on World Geography, seeks to answer these questions and more, by trying to understand more about the world we live in. Geography is the study of the Earth as the home of humankind and the interactions between humans and their environments. While Geography has always been thought of as merely Earth Science, it is playing an increasing vital role in highlighting the tension between two important realities of the 21st century - globalisation and cultural diversity. The subject develops students' awareness of locations, patterns, distribution, and interrelationships between the physical and human environments in a constantly changing world. Topics for study include the characteristics, distribution, and growth of the world's populations, the production and distribution of global food supply, and rising global demand for energy resources, all within the context of industrialisation and urbanization. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to better understand the world that they live in.
