Available to any student with an appropriate level of French. Students should consult the discipline coordinator of French.

Students enrolled in the subject are required to spend one semester overseas studying in an approved program at a recognised tertiary institution. The precise content of the subject will be negotiated between staff, students and the receiving overseas institution(s). In broad terms, however, the subject will consist of an in-depth practical study of communication in the target language through interaction on a daily basis with speakers of the target language. Outcomes will include the ability to communicate effectively in the target language, as well as a deep cultural understanding of the host country and its people. Students interested to take this subject should contact the course coordinator and JCU Global Mobility.

To undertake this subject, students must have successfully completed 12 credit points (four subjects) of level 1 study at tertiary level or successfully completed Intermediate French 2

    Assessment:the precise form of assessment tasks will be determined by negotiation between the staff, students and the receiving overseas institution(s). in general terms, however, assessment will involve judging the four macroskills of listening, reading, speaking and writing, together with cultural sensitivity, through the completion of a range of appropriate tasks. equal weight will be given to each of the macroskills.
    Special Assessment Requirements:Note - students must also meet the objectives of all courses taken in the selected institution overseas.
