This subject focuses on the concepts and processes of environmental and regional planning and design. Human perceptions of environments, community participation and the process of designing/ planning for an acceptable balance between human use and the physical environment are part of this focus.
Learning Outcomes
- a broad working knowledge and comprehension of the main principles of sustainable development, including environmental, regional and resource processes;
- the ability to critically review and analyse planning documents (eg. site plans, management plans);
- the ability to produce basic environmental plans that apply knowledge of broader environmental and regional policy;
- the ability to apply principles underpinning the main types of plan making processes and implementation techniques, including strategic, regional, environmental and management planning;
- the ability to utilise key processes of government relevant to environmental and regional planning to achieve sustainable development outcomes.
