This subject aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as hands-on experience using a GIS to address a real-world environmental issue.
Learning Outcomes
- Define key concepts in geography, mapping and remote sensing including scale, co-ordinate systems and spectral signatures;
- Identify key issues and limitations in geography, mapping and remote sensing;
- Analyse spatial data and create effective maps using industry standard GIS software;
- Work in teams to collect spatial data answering a real-world question and communicate the findings effectively.
