This subject examines the regulation of creative cultures in Australia over the past 100 years. It pays particular attention to print-based publications but also considers film, television, radio and digital media. The subject examines censorship in relation to moral panics and social crises, and in terms of the development of new technologies of production and distribution. Topics include censorship categories, exhibition classifications, and the role of law in media.
Learning Outcomes

- identify the relationship between moral panics, social and cultural crises, and the development of new technologies;
