Credit points: 03
Year: 2019
Student Contribution Band: Band
Administered by:

This subject is designed to foster the development and use of data to enhance student learning and school- based decision making. Graduate student teachers (GST) will learn how to use evidence gathered from assessment data - especially aggregated data - and scholarly literature to inform and justify pedagogical decision making, especially through differentiated instruction. In particular, GSTs will use data from sources such as the National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) to adopt a cross-curricula approach to literacy and numeracy. Further, they will learn how and the most appropriate modes for communicating and reporting their decision making and results, especially to students, parents and school authorities. The subject demonstrates GSTs literacy and numeracy competencies associated with the professional demands of teaching in a secondary school context.
