This subject explores how to plan, implement and evaluate pedagogies at an advanced level for the early years for the Australian Curriculum subject area of English and the Early Years Learning Framework (in particular, learning outcome number five: children are effective communicators). Core content comprises the examination and evaluation of current national and state curriculum documents and frameworks for children (birth to Year 3) and how to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning experiences in language, literature, literacy and communication for diverse learners. The subject aims to equip pre-service teachers nearing completion of their program with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to be highly proficient teachers of the Australian Curriculum subject area of English and the Early Years Learning Framework (in particular, learning outcome number five: children are effective communicators) to diverse learners in the early years.
