Limited offering available only to RATEP students

This subject assists students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for planning, teaching and assessing learning in Health and Physical Education in primary school, based upon relevant and appropriate State and National curriculum texts. Students will examine the models and trends in early childhood (birth to 8 years) and primary Health and Physical Education (HPE), including propositions of educative purpose, strengths-based and socio-critical approaches, health literacy, valuing movement, play-based pedagogy and Indigenous perspectives. They will also be cognisant of the role the HPE curriculum has in the development of personal and social capability in children. Approaches to developing learner-centred, integrated and inclusive curricula are emphasised.
